'Sound of Sirens' by Jen Minkman - Review

*I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review* As all Jen Minkman's books up to now, I really enjoyed reading this mini-novel. My only regret is, it is so short that once you get pulled in by the story, it is already finished. Since it is a part of a series, there is an easy solution to this one: I'll have to buy the rest of the series as soon as it will be available (ah, but waiting...). I have an impression that the size of this novel influences a bit the depth of the relation between the two 'star-crossed' lovers, we don't really see them together a lot and their relationship may seem a bit precipitated, but than aren't teenagers really like that? As I've mentioned, I really got pulled in by the story. I would define it as young adult-paranormal-dystopian-steam punk, if that description makes any sense. There is a bit of everything in here, as one might expect from the first book of the series: some mystery, beginning of love story, mythology of an island, danger and some rebellious air. I enjoy the way the setting is described and it is a plus, it's based on a real place (you can read Jen's blog about it here: https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/7330029-the-real-island-of-skylge?utm_medium=email&utm_source=author_blog_post_digest). I also find the names of characters very fitting: not a typical Jane you find in all other stories! Summing up, I can't wait to hear the release date for the next part!
